Calgary Music Spotlight: The Ramblin Ambassadors

SPOTLIGHT on The Ramblin Ambassadors

Calgary’s own Ramblin’ Ambassadors are a band that balances tremolo and twang with groove and grind. In a genre where clichés and cheesy homages to Dick Dale abound, these guys serve up their love for un-ironic vintage sounds with no best-before date. Equally at home in the bar-room, at the BBQ, or the beach, The Ramblin' Ambassadors have proven once again that the Canadian West is the true home of instrumental rock and roll with the recent release of their third album, Ramble On. Serving up this platter of big beat, no B.S. guitar instrumentals are guitarist Brent J. Cooper (of Huevos Rancheros fame) and his band-mates Scott Nickless, “Gentleman” Doug Waite and Tyler Pickering. Ramble On
follows the traditions of the Ambassadors’ previous releases, slamming home the fact that they remain, according to Exclaim Magazine, “one of the best instrumental acts around today.”
