Tourism Calgary and fashion designer Paul Hardy reveal first-of-its-kind creation at ‘Twas the Night Calgary, Alberta – November 28, 2012 – Tourism Calgary, in partnership with internationally renowned fashion designer Paul Hardy, will unveil the result of their unprecedented “Tweet Dress” initiative tonight.

At The CORE Shopping Centre’s exclusive ‘Twas the Night event, fashion aficionados will be the first to see the dress that was inspired by and created using social media tweets, and crafted by Hardy to epitomize the city’s flourishing fashion scene.

From October 20, Tourism Calgary collected tweets from Calgarians answering “What’s in style in Calgary?” using the hashtag #StyleYYC to the Twitter handle @Calgary.

The selected tweets were compiled and used by Hardy, an internationally acclaimed Calgary-based fashion designer, as inspiration for the creation of the world’s first couture “Tweet Dress.”

“The Tweet Dress has beautifully embodied the spirit, diversity and passion of Calgarians and the city they love through Paul Hardy’s talent and creativity,” said Gisèle Danis, Vice President of Marketing, Tourism Calgary. “This initiative has also illustrated that Calgary is a unique and stylish city; a true fashion and shopping destination.”

Following the launch of the initiative at Paul Hardy’s 10th anniversary fashion show in October, Tourism Calgary was thrilled to continue the fashion conversation in the social media sphere, engaging and discussing the city’s stylish fabric, and ultimately creating the innovative “Tweet Dress”.

“Calgary is so rich culturally because of the inspiration that is around us every day. The Rocky Mountains, Calgary’s many green spaces, the ever-changing weather, and most exceptionally, the people,” said Paul Hardy. “This city is both an economic engine and a creative hub, an inimitable fusion! I was truly inspired by the breadth of tweets we received throughout this initiative, from layers to leather, and seasons to sweaters, Calgarians are tuned into the style scene in this city.”
