When Fashion and Art Meet Luxury

When Fashion and Art Meet Luxury

One of the most anticipated fashion events of the season is PARKLUXE. This Saturday, October 5th at Telus SPARK Science Centre, guests can expect a top notch evening.

PARKLUXE FW12

Kara Chomistek, President of Promoting Artists Redefining Kulture (PARK) and a leader behind the event, explains the birth of the show: “PARKLUXE was created to assist designers and artists that focus on a high-end, luxury target market. These designers/artists are usually more experienced and have an assured sense of brand identity. We founded this event in 2010 after realizing that there was a gap between the newer emerging designers/artists we were supporting (0- 5 five years) and well established fashion brands or longstanding, successful artisans.”

PARKLUXE is a free platform for designers and artists to be a part of with certain criteria having to be met in order to take part. This is made possible because 100% of the profits made go back directly into PARK allowing for future events to be hosted.

Gracing the runway on Saturday are the Canadian collections from the exotic Anne B. Accessories, the globally influenced Laura Siegel, the classic Lauren Bagliore, the Mercedes-Benz Start Up Finalist Malorie Urbanovitch, the modern Nicole Campre (aka now CAMPRE), the international success Paul Hardy and the ground breaking Tanya Taylor.

Kirk Dunkley, a local artist, will be adding another element to the event with his installation sculpture being shown on display.

Best of all, you have an opportunity to learn more about the designers directly. Jacqueline Tyler, public relations director for PARK, says with excitement, “This season, designers have been encouraged to prepare a booth of information and display that will have staff support to provide opportunities for guests to book appointments, order items or buy off-the-rack!”
