Paul Hardy Design 10th Anniversary Celebration Wins International Award
Tourism Calgary worked closely with acclaimed Canadian designer Paul Hardy and event producer Derek MacDonald of Boom Goes the Drum to showcase Calgary as a growing fashion destination. At the event, Paul Hardy revealed his 2013 spring collection in Calgary rather than at his regular annual reveal at Toronto Fashion Week. The event also partnered with top local culinary talents as well as local country star Paul Brandt. The fashion show welcomed 60 journalists and bloggers from across the country securing more than $230,000 in earned media value. The Tourism Calgary team was excited to work with incredibly talented internationally-recognized local fashion, culinary and music stars to celebrate Calgary’s first major runway show and leverage it into a larger destination story.
"As an Event Producer, working on the Paul Hardy 10th Anniversary celebration was a creative dream come true for me and it is a huge honour to be recognized by the international event industry for a project that was so close to my heart. It is a rare occasion to have the opportunity to showcase, to the rest of the world, all of the things that you love about the place you call home. And the Paul Hardy project did that and more, which makes me beam with pride to have accepted the ISES Esprit Award on behalf of Paul Hardy Design, Tourism Calgary and Travel Alberta. Not to mention all of the spectacularly talented individuals who contributed to make this world class event in the heart of Calgary the success that it was." - Derek MacDonald (Boom Goes the Drum)
"The event collaboration with Boom Goes the Drum for my 10 year anniversary, in partnership with Tourism Calgary, was one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences to date in my career. This was a rare opportunity to be able to showcase the city in which I reside to foreign press and media, & highlight some of the best cultural aspects Calgary has to offer. Derek MacDonald and his event team executed the weekend long festivities flawlessly, which is undoubtedly why the event is still talked about and receiving accolades almost a year later." - Paul Hardy
"It was such a proud day for the ISES Calgary chapter when the Esprit award nominations were released and so many of our members were nominated,” said ISES Calgary’s 2013-2014 President Lisa Marks, CSEP. “ISES is a group of professionals who believe in the value and importance of live experiences. For members of our chapter to be honoured with Esprit awards as they were, it shows that our membership and city are leaders in excellence."
