Come visit us in Bragg Creek only a half hour west of Calgary –and yet it feels like a world away located in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains!

Shop and Stroll
Start by stepping into the laid-back shopping charm of the hamlet and scour antique stores for restored furniture, vintage glass, or classic reproductions. Stroll along pathways fringed with evergreens to find unique clothing boutiques, and shops with authentic First Nations bead and leatherwork. Check out original, Canadian artwork and artisan crafts in the hamlet’s galleries. Break for a cappuccino or pull up a stool and join locals for a pint or glass of wine.

Maybe you’d rather wander through thick spruce and aspen forests along winter trails in hopes of glimpsing a coyote or deer. Search the trees for secretive great horned owls. Snow-laden groves interspersed with meadows provide perfect spaces for wildlife watching. Play in Kananaskis Country Bragg Creek is also the nearest gateway to Kananaskis Country – over 4,000 square kilometres of parks, recreation areas, and forest reserves. There’s an endless array of outdoor activities – which could mean anything from a short drive west to photograph frozen waterfalls or a snowshoe expedition past the Highway 66 winter gate at Elbow Falls.

Strap on skis in West Bragg and get the heart pumping as you careen around either Moose or Telephone Loop. Pack your skates and join in a hockey game on the community centre rink. Hop on a sleigh and ride through a nearby ranch or explore your comfort zone as you branch off into learning about wilderness survival.

Dine and Stay
After working up an appetite outdoors, step inside for a hearty variety of flavourful food choices. Bragg Creek is a popular dining destination with a wide range of restaurants to choose from – whether you’re in the mood for ethnic specialties, fusion blends, or a classic burger with all the fixings. And just because dinner’s done, it doesn’t mean you have to leave just yet. Stay in comfort at one of the Creek’s many bed and breakfasts. There are rooms for all budgets and tastes – either within walking distance of the shopping and dining district or a short drive from town on wooded properties that beckon with the prospect of yet one more opportunity to see some local wildlife. Sleep deep with the sound of the river babbling in the background or the soothing sigh of the wind in the pines.
