Tourism Calgary congratulates Calgary Gold Medal Plate Winners
On Saturday, November 2nd, Calgarians experienced the ultimate celebration of Canadian excellence in food, wine, athletic achievement and entertainment. The Calgary 2013 Gold Medal Plates competition is one of ten competitions that take place across Canada with chefs vying for the top spot and proceeds raised from the event supporting the Canadian Olympic Foundation. Over the last decade, Gold Medal Plates has raised over $7 million for Canada’s athletes.
This year, Chef Duncan Ly of Hotel Arts Group took home gold for his Vietnamese-style braised pork neck, pig’s ear and BC side stripe prawn terrine.
Chef Ly, a former bronze, silver, and gold winning medalist, competed with some of Calgary's finest chefs (Alloy, Anju Restaurant, Downtown Food, Charcut, Market, Rush, River Café, Teatro and Wine Bar Kensington).
